Race Report FTR Hare Scramble #2 Bartow Florida

FTR hare scramble #2 in Bartow Florida November 9-10, 2024. For the first time FTR has offered an Electric only class and in this round we had 25 entries! 11 Starks, 6 Ultra Bee, 2 XE4, 4 Custom builds and one 1 Light Bee. The race consisted of 15 mile laps for an hour and a half with a lot of deep sand to contend with.

The Dirtybike crew secured 4 out of the top 10 spots. Kaleb had the leader in sight when our Ultra Bee started overheating at the end of lap one, slowing him down considerably. Couple that with one horrifically long pit stop and it’s a wonder he finished 4th. A testament to the heart this man has.

On top of that, when we got back to the pits we noticed he had broken all of the bolts holding the final drive front sprocket to the jackshaft!

Derrek was fast and steady as usual securing 2nd and Brent and Manny were rock solid with a 6th and 7th respectively. Brandon broke his hand in practice, stuck it in a cooler full of ice for an hour and gutted out his first race ever with a 17th  place finish on his Light Bee. Kid’s got grit!

Most of the Starks got off to a great start but as you may know, the battery in a Stark is not swappable, and this is an endurance race. Only 2 of Starks finished more than 3 laps. They finished 3rd and 9th.

On a side note, Kaleb took on the B open class in the 2 hour Sunday race with a burst blister on his hand the size of a quarter that he suffered in Saturday’s race. He led 2 laps before the fatigue and pain set in. Eventually finishing a very respectable 2nd in the race and 37th overall for the day. Way to go!

Can’t wait for FTR round 3, December 7th.
