DirtyBike takes 1st in the FTR electric class — 3 of the top 4 finishers were DirtyBike riders!
Out of 28 electric bikes entered in the 5th race of Florida Trail Riders Hare Scramble Series, 24 made it to the starting line, including 11 Stark Future bikes.
The first lap looked like a war zone as the deceptively slippery terrain caught many riders by surprise, putting one after another unexpectedly on their heads. Thankfully, no one was seriously hurt.
Our DirtyBike custom Ultra Bee was flawless this race, having zero issues all weekend. The Sirris suspension performed incredibly in the soft sand as well as in the grippy woods sections.
#204 Kaleb Bilbrey, still recovering from the injuries he sustained in HS #4, was not quite “on” but rallied hard to finish the race. He snuck by Derek Timm in the pits on the last lap for a well-deserved electric class victory.
With his usual rock-solid performance, Derek finished in 2nd, maintaining his points lead in the electric class. Shawn Clark finished 3rd on his XE4 and Manny put in his best ride of the series finishing 4th — way to go Manny! Brandon survived the torturous deep sand conditions on his little Light Bee and finished a super respectable 16th, beating many riders on bigger bikes (including a few Starks).
Frank the Tank took off from the start accidentally in eco mode. He realized it about 20 yards out and switched to race mode without letting off the gas. His new Torp controller responded and instantly looped the bike on the high traction start area, dumping Frank in the dirt. He got up, dusted himself off, took a bow to the several hundred onlookers, got back on his bike and finished the race in 18th. Always the showman.
Brent fell victim to the GritShift curse on the first lap when Justin plowed into him, sending Brent into a wild crash that ended his day. Brent didn't remember ordering "takeout" LOL.
Overall, it was another great event in the gnarly Florida off road conditions. Super proud of all the guys in our group and can’t wait for the next round!
